My experience was good. I appreciate that one guy that works the front desk keep me updated I was trying to book several months prior to my recent visit. It was already booked by a group of people but had not yet paid and gave them deadline. Since they didn't I was able booked online when it was available. I appreciate their Manager keeping updated. The staff is friendly. The rooms are okay. What great about this Hostel it's near the city just across the freeway bridge. Near all the Detroit historical landmarks. I would recommend if your looking for affordable price.

What a gem! If you are into hostels and the vibe and style that seems to come with most of them then this is a great place to consider. They have different room options available so if you are a couple seeking a little more privacy then you want to stay in the private room with one bed. If you are a solo traveler as I was when I visited, then any of the shared dorm rooms are your options. Remember this is a hostel not a hotel so you will be sharing spaces with other people but most people I meet in hostels are friendly and it’s easy to get comfortable and acquainted with other guests. It’s also a great way to share ideas as most of these people are fellow travelers and adventurers. As for the place itself, you will find a friendly, welcoming, and comfortable setting with just about anything you would need or use in your own home. Two kitchens, multiple bathrooms with nice showers, cookware, common areas to relax and hang out, and a work station with a computer. Also a large fenced in yard and back patio. Almost forgot about the washer and dryer too! Hostel Detroit also puts you very close to downtown and all the amenities in the nearby areas. There is so much to see and do within walking distance but you also have the option of renting a bicycle or using the city buses. Don’t let the stigma and rumors about Detroit keep you from exploring. I walked miles around the place alone and never felt uncomfortable or unsafe. The staff is highly knowledgeable about the area and they are happy to share what they know. Hostel Detroit is definitely where I will be staying anytime I am in the Detroit area. It honestly feels like I have friends and a place to stay up in the D anytime I want to. And in case you are wondering, there is a dispensary around the corner just a couple minutes walk away. There are better prices out there but hey it’s close.

I had a great stay at Hostel Detroit. I spent four days in July 2023. I appreciate that hostel staff are very responsive by both email and phone. Keyless access was honestly the best. It's great not to have to worry about carrying around a key. This converted house has two full size kitchens and plenty of fridge space. There are abundant bathrooms for both showers and toilets. Summer AC was perfect. The hostel is very close to bus stops, making it convenient to access the city via transit. Outdoor spaces were very pleasant, and staff are helpful with any inquiries. I would definitely stay here on my next visit.

I had a wonderful experience at Hostel Detroit. The staff was so warm, friendly, and helpful. I was able to walk to great spots or hop on the bus - or take a short Lyft ride. I would love to come back to Detroit and stay here again!

It's a great hostel! They are very nice!!! Everything clean and organized. It's a little far from the center but I hadn't have problems walking to there, was a 30m walk.

Very laid back! Had a great stay and the staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. The pricing is great for the quality of the rooms, I'll most definitely be visiting again. The neighborhood might look a little rough but there were landscaping crews working on it frequently as I traveled about, and to me it seems like a safe area. Don't let the overgrowth deter you, Hostel Detroit is awesome.
